For the first time since the Israel/Hamas war reached a lasting ceasefire in August, Israel bombed a Hamas military base in the Gaza Strip. An Israeli aircraft dropped bombs Friday (Dec. 19), allegedly responding to a missile that Hamas had launched earlier that day.

Christian Today reports that the bombs dropped in the Khan Younis region caused no fatalities. There were also no casualties reported from the missile launched by Hamas.

In a statement, military spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Peter Lerner said, "The IDF [military] will not permit any attempt to undermine the security and jeopardize the well being of the civilians of Israel. The Hamas terrorist organization is responsible and accountable for today's attack against Israel.”

The war between Israel and Hamas lasted seven weeks and caused around 2,200 deaths, most of which were Palestinian civilians.
