Although perhaps an unlikely convert, former Muslim jihadist Bashir Mohammad came to Christ after Jesus appeared to him in a dream.

Christian Today reports on Mohammad’s miraculous story. He was born to a Muslim family and fought on the front lines of the Syrian Civil War for the Nusra Front.

He says he was involved in the most extreme sects of Islam: “even the ones you haven’t heard of.” He took part in brutal executions of Christians, believing that these killings were sanctioned by Allah.

God, however, had a different plan for Mohammad.

"I went to Nusra in search of my God," he said. "But after I saw Muslims killing Muslims, I realized there was something wrong."

Mohammad and his wife left the war and fled to Istanbul. When Mohammad’s wife became seriously ill, they contacted Mohammad’s cousin who had converted to Christianity.

This woman prayed for Mohammad’s wife--and she recovered. This sparked Mohammad’s interest in Christianity. He began to read the Bible and go to church. But it wasn’t until Jesus appeared to him in a dream that he decided to become a Christian.

Mohammad said he had a dream of Jesus giving him chickpeas. Mohammad’s wife also had a dream of Jesus in which He parted the waters of the sea. The couple knew it was a sign.

"There's a big gap between the god I used to worship and the one I worship now," Mohammad said. "We used to worship in fear. Now everything has changed."
