Anger

Eph 4:26-27:  "BE ANGRY, AND yet DO NOT SIN; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not give the devil an opportunity" (NASU).

Anger in and of itself is not always wrong, but what we do with our anger determines whether we act righteously or sinfully.  We should be angered by acts of ungodliness, unrighteousness, injustice, and inequity.  God is angered by these things as well.

But, if you are angry because someone has disturbed your pride, self-sufficiency, status, prestige or power, your reaction will likely be sinful.   Sinful anger is often expressed in harshness, cruelty, bitterness, and a lack of control.

It is important to examine our hearts when our kids make us angry.  If it is righteous anger, let it motivate you to take action and deliver consequences.  Sin needs to be addressed.  But honor God by delivering those consequences with empathy and love.

Examine your anger to determine the motives behind it.  If it is sinful anger, pray for the courage to confess, repent and resolve it.
