The Journey with Ron Moore

Cast onto Him | 1 Peter 5:7

1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Fear is real and unrelenting. When you feel like you've conquered "Fear A" the thrill of victory is soon replaced by the agony of defeat from "Fear B." While anxiety visits us all, it is a permanent house guest for some. The question is not "Will anxiety come?" The question is "What will I do with the fear when it arrives?"

Today's passage answers the question. Peter says to surrender our fear to God. He cares for you. He's omniscient, so he knows what to do with it. He's omnipotent, so he is able to take care of the situation. Anxiety weighs us down and wears us out. Give it to God.

Peter doesn't say, "Quietly walk over and gently place your fear on God." He doesn't instruct us to explain the reason for the anxiety. We are not to wait for permission. Peter says to rare back and throw "all your anxiety on him." Don't hold any back. Like fishermen heave their nets into the sea, cast your anxiety on him. God loves you so much that he doesn't want you to stumble under the weight. He will carry it as he walks by your side.

Father, thank you for this great invitation. Remind me of your invitation often when anxiety overtakes me. Whisper in my ear, "Give it to me." Give me the strength and wisdom to let you have it all. In Jesus' name. Amen.
