It's a New Day | Daniel 4:35 | Devotional
Daniel 4:35 All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing. He does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth. No one can hold back his hand or say to him: "What have you done?"
If you think that you’re in charge, think again. If you think it all depends on you, I have some alarming news. If you think that it’s all on your shoulders, you’re carrying some unnecessary weight. The sovereign God is in control.
We are bit players; God is the Director. Even “the king's heart is in the hand of the LORD; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases” (Proverbs 21:1). “It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture” (Psalm 100:3). His actions are always right, always just, always good. No one can accuse him with the question, “What have you done?”
And...ready for this…the sovereign God desires a relationship with you and me. The God who possesses all the powers of heaven and earth voluntarily humbled himself by dying as our substitute. If God is for us then who can be against us? (Romans 8:31). I’m thankful that he’s in charge, aren’t you?
Heavenly Father, thank you for your sovereignty, your power, and your love. I bow before you as the One who is in control. I bow before you as the One who does all things right. I bow before you as the One who loves me through Jesus with an unconditional love. I bow before you in Jesus’ name. Amen.
