It is easy to be critical of others. In fact, it seems to have become a national pastime. We seem to notice the negative things our friends and mate do, taking some pleasure in talking about them with others. All the while we lose sight of those same areas of concern in our lives. Scripture says, “A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid a man who talks too much” (Proverbs 20: 19). Determine to maintain healthy boundaries, honoring your friendships and marriage with confidence and protection.
Dr. David Hawkins is the director of the Marriage Recover Center where he counsels couples in distress. He is the author of over 30 books, including Dealing With the CrazyMakers in Your Life, 90 Days to a Fantastic Marriage, and When Pleasing Others is Hurting You.
