Emotions Are Contagious

Have you ever walked into your home, only to be met by a teenager with an attitude, and then feeling your spirits sink like 10 pound rock in a pond? Or perhaps you’ve greeted your mate and found his/ her spirits were heavy, and your joy dissipated because of their mood. While there is nothing wrong with having a bad day, recognize that your emotions are contagious—both joy and sorrow, happy and sad. “Above all else, guard your heart for it is the wellspring of life.” (Proverbs 4: 23)
Dr. David Hawkins is the director of the Marriage Recover Center where he counsels couples in distress. He is the author of over 30 books, including Dealing With the CrazyMakers in Your Life, 90 Days to a Fantastic Marriage, and Saying It So He'll Listen. Dr. Hawkins grew up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and lives with his wife on the South Puget Sound where he enjoys sailing, biking, and skiing. He has active practices in two Washington cities.
