Godly Sorrow Leads to Repentance

When wronged by our mate, we long to know they feel sorrow for their behavior. One way we can know they are truly sorry for what they have done is if they experience a Godly sorrow that leads to repentance—a turning away from the wrongful behavior. “Godly sorrow leads to repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regrets.” (II Corinthians 7: 10) In turn, you can measure your own level of repentance by your behavior: do you turn away from the wrongful action?
Dr. David Hawkins is the director of the Marriage Recover Center where he counsels couples in distress.
