"Let go and let God" is a popular slogan but very difficult to do. We want to do things ourselves, trusting in our own understanding and abilities when it comes to our marriage and relationships. As you know, this doesn’t work. At some point we all recognize there are limits to our skills, strengths and even intellectual prowess. During a stressful time in Abram’s life God came to him in a vision and said, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward” (Genesis 15: 1). Can you trust God to be your shield and great reward?
Dr. David Hawkins is the director of the Marriage Recover Center where he counsels couples in distress. He is the author of over 30 books, including Dealing With the CrazyMakers in Your Life, 90 Days to a Fantastic Marriage, and When Pleasing Others is Hurting You. Dr. Hawkins grew up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and lives with his wife on the South Puget Sound where he enjoys sailing, biking, and skiing. He has active practices in two Washington cities.
