More than 2.4 million grandparents are raising their grandchildren, according to the 2000 U.S. Census. It is hard to get one’s mind wrapped around this global epidemic being caused by divorce, teenage pregnancy, drugs, alcohol addiction, incarceration, lack of responsibility of one or both parents or mental illness.
