Don’t Wait

Adie

In stark contrast to her wilder musical days as frontwoman for Christian alt-rock outfit The Benjamin Gate, Adie (aka Adrienne Camp, née Liesching) is embracing her softer side on Don’t Wait. But don’t mistake “softer” for soft. Adie’s voice evokes all the passion and intensity it did before, but with a result more like Frou Frou or Butterfly Boucher than secular rock band Garbage.

With songs that tackle a resolve against spiritual complacency and a renewed desire to make every day count, there is plenty that is relatable here. The eternal-minded title track and contemplative worship of “What Have I Done?” stand out.

And while she could have relied on the formula that has served her husband and fellow artist Jeremy Camp so well, Adie makes her solo debut her own. Don’t Wait comprises a universal—and highly listenable—outlook on faith and how it plays out in everyday life.
