Viking Census
Some time after he returned from a lengthy voyage, a brave Viking seaman was amazed to find that his name was missing from the town register.

His wife went to see the keeper of these matters, saying that an eminent explorer such as her husband should certainly have a place of honor on the town rolls and, indeed, in the annals and chronicles.

The civic official agreed with her, and apologized profusely. All he could offer by way of explanation was, "I don't know how it happened, and I'll fix it right away - but, ya, sure . . . .

. . . .I must have taken Leif off my census."
