Court Examines Whether Christian Prayer Has a Place at Public Meetings

An appeals court is holding oral arguments to discuss the Constitutionality of allowing Christian prayer before public meetings.
ABC News reports that the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) sued the Roman County Commission in North Carolina in 2013 for allowing Chrisitan prayer before local council meetings.
The ACLU was representing citizens who were uncomfortable with the prayers and claimed they were discriminatory.
The Supreme Court recently ruled in favor of keeping prayer before local town council meetings in New York, but the ACLU claims that the North Carolina case is different.
An attorney supporting the Rowan County Commission asserted that the “whole nation will be looking at this case.”
