Russia: Possible Terror Attack Kills 10 in St. Petersburg

A bomb blast on a subway train in St. Petersburg, Russia has killed at least 10 people and injured as many as 50 others, Fox News reports.
The explosion occurred at 2:20 p.m. local time and has been called a possible terror attack. Experts note that trains and subways have been popular targets for terrorists recently.
The device was reportedly filled with shrapnel and the subway was thrown into chaos when it exploded.
Commuters shouted for emergency medical help. "People were bleeding, their hair burned," a witness told Russia's Life News. "My girlfriend was in the next car that exploded. She said that he began to shake. When she came out, she saw that people were mutilated."
The train had been traveling from the Technology Institute station and heading to Sennaya Square station when the blast occurred.
No group has yet taken responsibility for the attack, but Russian president Vladimir Putin said the government is investigating it as a possible act of terrorism.
"The causes are not clear, it's too early. We will look at all possible causes, terrorism as well as common crime," Putin said. "Law enforcement agencies and intelligence services are doing their best to establish the cause and give a full picture of what happened."
St. Petersburg is Russia’s second most populous city and the country’s most popular tourist destination.
