In what seemed like innovative math, Russ Crossen, CEO of Ronald Blue & Company, shared with me and others a case study on creative generosity. He had a client who made in excess of $1 million a year, and wanted to know the best ways to increase his giving.
By the time Russ went through the math with this client he realized he could more than double his giving, without changing his cash flow or personal lifestyle. The strategy included donating a percentage of the stock in his business, leveraging tax opportunities, and having a generous spirit.
Proverbs 11:24 teaches, "One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty."
Fortunately, God and the IRS are favorable to generosity. Are you?
