Repentance is the Fruit of Revival

Now on the twenty-fourth day of this month the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, in sackcloth, and with dust on their heads. Then those of Israelite lineage separated themselves from all foreigners; and they stood and confessed their sins and the iniquities of their fathers. - Nehemiah 9:1-2

In the book of Nehemiah, we have seen a big turnaround in the lives of the children of Israel. They had placed their individual names on a document in a covenant to obey God’s Word (Nehemiah 10). But what did it take to get there? Repentance!

If you read books written in the eighteen and nineteen hundreds, there are many written about revival. But when does revival really come? When John the Baptist preached his message, it was simple: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” Jesus’ message was the same:

Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdomof God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel”(Mark 1:15-16).

You may ask “What is the Gospel?”  Paul declared the Gospel simply:

Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand,  by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.  For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures… (1 Corinthians 15:1-4).

Do you believe the message of the Gospel? On an individual basis repentance is the fruit of revival.

“Therefore bear fruitsfruits worthy of repentance…”
~Luke 3:8~
