It’s been an eventful few weeks for Disney. With the premiere of Finding Dory hitting theaters, the studio has taken the chance to showcase a number of their upcoming projects. From a new animated film starring Disney’s latest princess, to a true-life drama about the queen of chess, here's a brief look at all the upcoming Disney movies you should know about!
 

Moana

What’s it about?

Moana is the newest addition to Disney’s royal family. Set in ancient Oceania, the story follows a young girl of the same name who sets sail to find a legendary island. Along the way, she teams up with a legendary hero named Maui, who is voiced by Dwayne Johnson.

 

Pete’s Dragon

What’s it about?

A remake of the 1977 film of the same name, Pete’s Dragon chronicles the adventures of a young boy who befriends a giant green dragon named Elliott. For years, the two live peacefully in the forest, until one day the boy is reunited with the humans of a nearby town. Now, they must work together to ensure Elliot remains safe from those who would enslave him.

 

Queen of Katwe

What’s it about?

Based on a true story, Queen of Katwe depicts the life of Phiona Mutesi, a Ugandan chess prodigy who becomes a Woman Candidate Master after her performance at the World Chess Olympiads. This biographical drama is set to show Phiona’s rise from poverty to becoming an influential presence in her community.
