In a nutshell: After detouring for an old-school gospel release in 2007, Kevin Max picks back up where his post dc Talk days left off. This online exclusive EP combines his unmistakable vocal quivering with alternative rock sensibilities similar to 2005's The Imposter. Speaking of that CD, the singer/songwriter reworks its key cut "Your Beautiful Mind" in experimental acoustic contexts (think U2's Zooropa era) that give additional emphasis to lyrics about God's boundless creativity. As for the six new tracks, there's not a bad one in the bunch, with "Traveler" tipping its hat towards Morrissey, "Out of the Wild" adapting additional British undertones, and "Baby, I'm Your Man" sounding like an evolution from his previous band's Supernatural CD.
