…That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.

--Ephesians 1:17-21

While I believe true followers of Christ desire to live a life that pleases Him, many people really don’t understand how to live a life of spiritual authority and power in the Lord.

Scripture tells us that we have legitimate spiritual authority as believers in Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, though, many believers live as though this world is a playground, rather than a battleground. And as a result, they end up falling into Satan’s traps.

Friend, each of us needs to understand that Satan is real and active in our world today! His greatest desire is to see your spiritual defeat.

But as a believer in Jesus, you are on the winning team. You have spiritual authority because Christ has dominion over the devil.

The next time Satan tries to destroy your worth, your joy, or your peace…when he tries to remind you of all your past sins and failures…remind him of his future (see Revelation 20:10).

Remember, the power of the cross, the power of your confession, and the power of your commitment to Jesus Christ is what gives you spiritual authority in this life.

YOU HAVE SPIRITUAL AUTHORITY OVER SATAN AS A BELIEVER IN JESUS CHRIST.
