Lie, Cheat & Steal. Or, Just Make One Decision
- Wednesday, July 14, 2010
And in most cases, these crimes started with a simple lie, proceeded to cheating/stealing, and ended in violence. The distance between these steps is often much shorter than we are willing to admit. And they could all be prevented if we would make the ONE decision of the kind of person we want to be.
"So don't lose your confidence. It will bring you a great reward." Hebrews 10:35
Today, I challenge you to make that ONE decision, the one choice of who you intend to be, of what you want your life to reflect. After that, you simply have to stay true to yourself and never take that first step away from your values—no lying allowed!
And as Austen so astutely put it, "Then, when you are presented with situations or temptations, you've already decided what to do."
One decision—that's not so hard, is it? Have confidence in your ability to make, respect, and adhere to, your one decision. After all, your entire life is defined by it.
"Your life is the sum result of all the choices you make, both consciously and unconsciously. If you can control the process of choosing, you can take control of all aspects of your life. You can find the freedom that comes from being in charge of yourself." Robert F. Bennett
