Home Sweet Home: The Center For Christian Ministry
- Tuesday, March 16, 2004
You see, a house is just a place where Christians live. But a home is where Jesus reigns as Lord and King! And when we open our hearts and our homes to the Lord's special guests, He is overjoyed and honored, and we are the ones who are blessed with a truly home sweet home.
When you give a [special] luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be paid at the resurrection of the righteous (Luke 14:12-14).
Your Own Marriage Ministry in the Home
In light of God's calling to marriage ministry your own home, prayerfully consider the following questions:
1. Who has served you in their home in your own past journey in the faith? Why not thank God for them right now. Maybe you should write them a short note or e-mail them, thanking them for their Christian hospitality and ministry. It would probably be a real encouragement to them, don't you think?
2. How have you used your own home for ministry in the last six months? How do you think God wants to use your home for ministry in the next six months? Why not pray about this together right now.
3. What specific individuals, Christian and non-Christian, do you think God wants you to invite into your home in the next six months? When do you think it would be a good time to invite them? Again, why not pray about this right now. Remember: God desires to use your marriage, in your home, to reflect His glory to the world.
