"Light a Candle and Consider Me" - Warrior Mom Wisdom - Week of May 31

Warrior Mom Wisdom Devotional

“LIGHT A CANDLE AND CONSIDER ME.”

It’s Saturday morning. I woke up so relieved that I didn’t have to be anywhere. The children didn’t have to be anywhere either. I slept until 6:30, which is sleeping in for me. As I got the coffee out to make the coffee, God said, “Light a candle and consider Me.” I wondered what He meant, but I was excited to make the coffee and light a candle and consider Him. I prayed, I read my Bible, and I considered Him and how amazing He is. I opened my journal and wrote the following entry:

I consider You mighty, able to do all things! Powerful, loving, full of mercy. You are Grace, desiring my best interest, able to control all things. You are able to orchestrate the details of life – even considering those who are unbelievers in my life…. I feel secure in all things because of who You are. If I am in the wilderness You are there. If I am but one believer amid many – You are there with me. I pause and consider Your Holiness. I consider You more powerful than any nonbeliever who has a false, fleeting sense of authority. I consider that You, in Your time will set me free from the current oppression I experience and You will send me forth in Your victory. I consider You desiring to speak to me, in me, through me, and around me. I submit to You, my Father. I consider You supreme, above all. All things and all people are made by You and for You. I consider myself speechless in your presence. May You hear my heart, May You show me the parts that You consider in more need of You. I consider You so amazing that I sit here with the candle lit in honor of Your presence.

This was particularly powerful for me because I had been struggling with difficult situations in which I had no control, and I had been asking for peace that surpassed all understanding in order that I would face the Goliaths before me as a warrior who knew that God goes before me and He fights for me. Stopping and lighting a candle and considering God reminded me of who He is and who I do not have to be. I am a daughter in constant need of His authority in my life. Praise Him.
