That was the great part of the revelation from Him. I now know what was missing. The missing element was that I was trying to bring about His presence in my life by cleaning the glass door to my heart.
In the book, "They Found the Secret" by V. Raymond Edmond, Adoniram Judson Gordon states, "Instead of praying constantly for the descent of a divine influence there was now a surrender, however imperfect, to a divine and ever-present Being; instead of a constant effort to make use of the Holy Spirit for doing my work there arose a clear and abiding conviction that the true secret of service lay in so yielding to the Holy Spirit that he might use me to do his work..."
When I read this just yesterday, I knew that Adoniram had found the secret. I knew that the Lord had also revealed the secret to me. It's not even a secret that hasn't been uttered for the true secret to continual fellowship with the Most High, is simply yet almost impossible; it is dying to self. It is breaking down the glass door, risking everything to allow the Lord instant access and continual residence into the very depths of my being. It isn't about continually trying to clean the door. It is about breaking down all the barriers that I have erected, which prevent access.
Perhaps even more importantly it means that rather than checking with the Lord to see if what I'm doing is within His will. It means that continual fellowship with Him will allow me to know that every step I take, I take with Him.
Let's all break down the barriers and live the life that is so full of the Lord dwelling in us, that we will be spewing His light every where we go.
