Embrace the Journey

I’ve said it before and I’m certain I will say it many more times before I die:

Embrace the journey.

Yes, a wise friend gave me this little piece of advice some thirteen years ago when I learned of my husband’s affair. I thought she might be a little crazy at the time, but she was so very right! When we are faced with painful situations in this life, we must be willing to embrace the journey because it’s the journey that changes us. It is the journey where God does His work in us so He can one day do His work through us.

Think about the Israelites in the wilderness. God could have just taken them on the most direct path from Egypt to the Promised Land. Instead, He took them through the Red Sea. He allowed them to face famine and thirst. He allowed them to face internal stresses and external pressures.

And He took care of their every need along the way.

Deuteronomy 8 says it this way:

Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years.  vv. 2-4

Yes. This journey—although extremely difficult at times—is an opportunity for God to show us His heart, to provide for our every need, to build our faith, to teach us to trust Him in ways we never would otherwise. It humbles us, teaching us that while our best is never enough, He is always more than enough.

There are very few pieces of advice more important than this one.

Have you ever wondered what this advice would look like when it plays out in real life? I’m excited to announce you can actually see it on the big screen next week!

I don’t know about you, but it has been well over a year since I have been to a movie theater. Honestly, we’ve talked about going a couple of times, but we just haven’t seen a movie that caught our eye.

That changes this weekend!

INDING  YOU is an inspirational romantic dramedy full of heart and humor about finding

Finding You is an inspirational romantic dramadey full of heart and humor about finding the courage to be true to oneself.

After an ill-fated audition at a prestigious New York music conservatory, violinist Finley Sinclair (Rose Reid) travels to an Irish coastal village to begin her semester studying abroad. At the B&B run by her host family she encounters the gregarious and persistent heartthrob movie star Beckett Rush (Jedidiah Goodacre), who is there to film another installment of his medieval fantasy-adventure franchise. As romance sparks between the unlikely pair, Beckett ignites a journey of discovery for Finley that transforms her heart, her music, and her outlook on life. In turn, Finley emboldens Beckett to reach beyond his teen-idol image and pursue his true passion. But when forces surrounding Beckett’s stardom threaten to crush their dreams, Finley must decide what she is willing to risk for love.
