R. C. Sproul Jr. has been suspended by Ligonier Ministries for his admittance to visiting Ashley Madison, an adultery matchmaking website.

Ligonier Ministries, which was founded by R. C. Sproul Sr. and of which Sproul Jr. was a teaching fellow, has suspended Sproul Jr. until July 2016 after Sproul admitted that he visited the website, Christianity Today reports.

“In August 2014, in a moment of weakness, pain, and from an unhealthy curiosity, I visited Ashley Madison. My goal was not to gather research for critical commentary, but to fan the flames of my imagination,” Sproul stated in a blog post.

Sproul affirms that he has seen God’s grace in exposing his sin and granting him repentance from it.

“First, I felt the grace of fear. Second, I felt the grace of shame. I was there long enough to leave an old email address. And within minutes I left, never to return. I did not sign up for their service or interact with any clients. I have always remained faithful to my wife even after her passing,” Sproul stated.

Sproul’s suspension due to his association with Ashley Madison comes in the wake of a huge hack to the adultery website that took place two weeks ago and exposed many well-known leaders in the Christian community.
