However, the elation swiftly turned to heartbreak as the medical staff whisked Adam away from Andrea and her husband. Instead of the anticipated bliss of cutting the umbilical cord, her husband bore witness to a flurry of medical staff swiftly taking Adam away. That's when Mr. West caught just a glimpse of his precious son when turned to Andrea and delivered terrifying news. “Honey, there's something wrong with Adam's leg," he said.

Left in the ward alone, Andrea West remained oblivious to the unfolding drama outside. No one had yet revealed the nature of Adam’s condition, and the void of information only added to her anxiety. She had no idea if her son was still alive and the fear of losing another child overwhelmed her. Later, it would be disclosed that Adam’s right leg and abdomen exhibited a disconcerting marbled pattern of purple and black discoloration. When Andrea West finally learned the cause behind her son’s issues, it floored her.
