God, Where are You When My World is Shaken? | Psalm 139:11-12

Psalm 139:11-12
If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me," even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.

Okay, let’s face it - sometimes, hopefully most of the time, we love the fact that God is always present with us. But then there are times, be honest, when you feel like the person in those Southwest Airline commercials and just want to get away! God’s presence is great…until you would rather go someplace, or do something, or be with someone and you’d just as soon God let you go or do or be alone.

Check out David’s transparency. He says even when I want to move in the darkness of night...the darkness cannot cover my actions from the All-Seeing, All-Knowing God. Even when I attempt stealth maneuvers during the day, my attempts at “behind the curtain” living shows up “on stage” with all the heavenly lights focused on my actions.

So here’s the deal. If you think you are cleverly concealing anything from God, think again. The writer of the Proverbs clearly repeats this truth: For a man's ways are in full view of the LORD, and he examines all his paths (Proverbs 5:21). There is only One to whom we will give an account. And He sees all.

Father, thank you for the reminder that I cannot hide from You. Give me a heart of obedience so that I never desire to. In Christ’s Name. Amen.
