Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world (Isa. 12:5). We have to see the world's desperate need for grace before we understand why a baby requires such a hullaballoo.

The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel—which means, "God with us" (Matt. 1:23). I love Christmas, but I can certainly relate to the Grinch.

She shall bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins (Matt 1:21). Does the One who has everything have your heart?
So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger (Luke 2:16). Our calendars so easily become overloaded, crowding out the spiritual significance of the Christmas season.
Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you (Matt. 5:44). We had a quickly growing stack of nice things to take to people who were definitely not nice...
You, Bethlehem... out of you will come a ruler who will be the shepherd of my people Israel (Matt. 2:6). God chooses to bring his magnificent Messiah out of this town. Why?
