Devotionals Daily: A Year with Jesus

From Jesus Calling for Kids by Sarah Young

Rock or Sand?

“Anyone who hears and obeys these teachings of mine is like a wise person who built a house on solid rock. Rain poured down, rivers flooded, and winds beat against that house. But it did not fall, because it was built on solid rock. —Matthew 7:24–25

The wise man who builds his house on the rock is able to get safely through the storms. And the foolish man who builds his house on the sand—well, his house goes splat! But sometimes in this world, it can be tough to figure out what is rock and what is sand. The world tells you first one thing and then another. Sometimes your teachers say one thing and your parents say another. How can you know what is rock and what is sand? I am the Rock. Come to Me in prayer, and I will show you what is true, what can be trusted, what is real. Ask My Spirit to guide you as you study My Word. Anything that does not agree with My Word is sand and should not be trusted. Build your house upon the Rock of My Word. And then trust that I will help you stand firm when the storms come—because I will.
