Die Young to Live for Jesus Now
- Tuesday, April 24, 2012
Realize that weak is the new strong. Recognizing and respecting your human weaknesses will actually help you invite more of God’s strength into your life. Whenever you see that you lack the power to do something you should do, you can call on the Holy Spirit to empower you to do it. Surrendering your will to God’s will in any situation ushers God’s power into that situation. You don’t have to fear any of your weaknesses if you trust God, because they just leave more room for God’s strength to work through you as you trust Him. Accepting your weaknesses and relying on God’s strength will help you do many things that He calls you to do, such as: wait, forgive, serve, depend on God, and be kind to others.
Realize that slavery is the new freedom. When you die to your selfish desires, you become slaves of God, which frees you from sin so you can live life full of blessings. Understand that the way to truly experience freedom isn’t by gratifying every appetite you have, but by gaining power over your appetites so they don’t enslave you – which you can only do when you’re a slave of God, who wants what’s really best for you. Remaining enslaved to your own desires will eventually destroy you. But when you become a slave of God (the only master you were ever meant to serve) by practicing submission to His will, unconditional obedience, and self-denial, God sets you free from sin, sanctifies you so you can grow spiritually, and gives you eternal life.
Realize that confession is the new innocence. You can never truly be innocent until you confess your sins; guilt will haunt you until do. But the Bible promises that when you confess your sins to God, He is faithful to forgive you and cleanse you from all unrighteousness, and when you confess your sins to other people and pray for one another, you can experience healing. The way to innocence is by admitting your guilt and agreeing with God that you’ve sinned so you can embrace the grace He offers you to make a fresh start.
Realize that red is the new white. It’s the red blood that Jesus shed when He died on the cross to pay for people’s sins that washes yours sins away from your soul, leaving you white (pure) in God’s eyes. Only Jesus’ death can save you; nothing else has the power to save anyone. So embrace Jesus’ death and bury yourself in it so you can live with Him forever!
