The Customer Won

Sometimes what your customer wants, and doing what's right, comes into conflict. According to The Kansas City Star, Moody's Investors Service, an investment rating company, used to be paid by investors who wanted to know the truth about the quality of potential investments. In the 1970s this changed.

The customer became those who create investments. Naturally, the new customers wanted the highest rating possible, regardless of the truth. The tension for Moody's became, do you please the customer, or do you do the right thing and rate the investment properly, regardless of the money?

Psalm 106:3 teaches, "Blessed are they who maintain justice, who constantly do what is right."

If you're caught between doing the right thing and making more money, do the right thing. It might save your reputation.
