Faithful for He is Faithful
Read Hebrews 10:23
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.
What is the hope that we profess?
If someone asked you why you can remain hopeful even in the midst of hard times, what would you say? There are many earthly things that we can put our faith in, but none are foolproof, and none are guaranteed to last forever.
The hope that Christians profess is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He died to forgive us of our sins and rose on the third day to conquer sin and death once and for all. We deserved death and judgment. We deserved hell. But if we believe in Jesus and trust in His work on the cross for us, we are made right with God, and we will be with Jesus for all eternity.
This is our hope. But how do we know we can trust in it? Because “He who promised is faithful.” If we read Scripture, we can see the evidence of God’s faithfulness over and over again. Even in our own lives, if we stop to reflect on all that God has done for us, we will see the evidence of His Hand working in our lives. We can hold fast to this hope of Jesus because God has been faithful before, so we can be confident that He will be faithful again.
Friends, let’s hold unswervingly to the hope we profess. Don’t swerve right or lift in doubt. Don’t turn back when the going gets tough. God promised. He is faithful to keep His promises. We can be faithful in hope in Him because He is faithful to us.
Father, great is Your faithfulness to me. Give me the strength I need to persevere and hold on tight to the hope You have given me. Amen.
