An 85-year-old woman who gave her daughter up for adoption back in 1954 was finally able to meet her after all these years.

According to ChristianToday.com, Goldie Waltman from Juanita County, Pennsylvania gave birth to her daughter Patricia Lorenz in 1954. Waltman, however, was single and unemployed and made the hard decision to give her daughter up so that she might have a better life.

"I gave her up, and it was the hardest thing I ever did in my life," Waltman told Fox 8, adding that she prayed for her daughter every day.

Waltman thought she would never see her daughter again as time passed. Though it took 62 years, Waltman and Lorenz were finally reunited, and the way the reunion came about is a story not soon forgotten.

After giving birth to Lorenz, Waltman later went on to have five other children. Recently, Waltman’s children were with her at a doctor’s appointment. The doctor asked Waltman how many children she had and when she replied “I have six,” Waltman’s children began to correct her.

Since she had never told them about their older sister, Waltman’s younger children did not know she existed.

Their mother’s answer to the question the doctor posed opened up a whole new world for Waltman’s other children.

"We started to search for her, but unfortunately we were using the wrong name, wrong state, and we just didn't get anywhere," stated Kellie Taylor, one of Waltman’s children.

Eventually, Lorenz and Waltman’s children were able to connect. Lorenz had been searching for her birth mother since she was 16. Waltman’s younger children arranged a meet-up.

"I finally got to see her," Waltman said. "The Lord's been good. I didn't think this would ever happen."

"I don't know how to explain it," Lorenz added. "I've been excited about coming to meet her and see her for so long, and it's like a reality come true."
