Refusal to Believe

Cal Thomas

Syndicated Columnist

February 28, 2007

For two thousands years, people who refused to believe that Jesus is who he said he is have been trying to cause others to disbelieve. There is nothing the pagan world would like better than to prove Jesus never rose from the grave.

The latest in a long line of heresies is a TV show put together by a Hollywood director, James Cameron, a self taught antiquities investigator, new testament scholars, a statistician and an archaeologist, several of whom said they are uncertain about the findings.

The findings are several boxes discovered 27 years ago in Jerusalem. The boxes may have had the names “Jesus, son of Joseph,” “Mary” and “Mary Magdalene,” along with a child named “Judah.” To the movie makers, this proves Jesus wasn’t resurrected; that he lived, married and had a son.

No bones were discovered, of course, and the documentary makers failed to note these were common names in those days. There is even disagreement about whether the names on the boxes, or ossuaries, were properly translated. I’ve got news for these people: Jesus rose from the grave, just as he said.
