Yes, the age of consent is 18. But there are many different parts to this law. This is a quote from the link given in the previous comment.

"(D) An adult over the age of 21 years who engages in an act of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor under 16 years of age is liable for a civil penalty not to exceed twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000)."

Just wanted to point out that it's not as simple as it may seem.

Article correction: the age of consent in California is **not** 16. It is 18.
