Did you hear about the “Compassion Summit” held at Messiah College in Pennsylvania. Presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama came. John McCain stayed away.

Hillary was asked about bible stories and she referred to the book of Esther and a rabbi who used to send her things. Obama said we are neither a Christian, nor Muslim, nor Buddhist, nor atheist nation, but a nation for all people of belief or unbelief.

Both think compassion means spending more on government programs. What this was all about was for democrats to try to get back into the religion game, which they think has been hijacked by the right. They’re quoting bible verses and talking about going to church. It’s all irrelevant because none of this tells anyone what kind of president he – or she – will make.

It’s a dangerous game to claim that god is on the side of one party or another, or one politician or the other. God can’t be on two sides simultaneously. What if he is on neither side and has his own ways which are not man’s ways?
