Jimmy Carter: Peace at Any Price

Cal Thomas

Syndicated Columnist

April 28, 2008

Nothing stinks as badly as a perishable that has exceeded its "sell-by" date. That describes Jimmy Carter.

After a one-man peace journey to meet with the terrorist group Hamas, and other enemies of Israel and the U.S., carter proclaimed that Hamas had agreed to acknowledge Israel’s existence with a ten-year peace treaty if Israel would return to 1967 borders.

But then Hamas leaders said Hamas has no intention of acknowledging Israel’s right to exist.

Carter thinks by talking to sworn enemies of the U.S., that they will change their attitude and behavior. Carter trusts liars and killers. He was surprised that the late Soviet dictator Leonid Brezhnev lied to him and invaded Afghanistan. Memo to Carter: communists and other evil people lie!

There is no way Hamas is going to recognize Israel. How could they when they think their god wants all Jews and Christians dead and the land reclaimed for themselves. Does anyone serious believe they would negotiate away this supposed mandate from their god with an infidel cross worshipper and crusader? Yes, and his name is Jimmy Carter.
