I am disgusted by Ms. Dixon's comments. I am an openly gay man. I cannot wake up tomorrow and decide to be a heterosexual man, and those organizations that claim to be able to "reorient" gay men and lesbians have been condemned by professional bodies such as the American Psychological Association. Indeed, so-called "reparative therapy" has been condemned as potentially extremely harmful, and many gay men who have undergone such "therapy" have killed themselves out of frustration and sadness.

I don't know if and when the "gay gene" (or, more likely, combination of genes, or combination of genes and environment) will be identified, but I do know this: my sexual orientation is as much a part of my physical and emotional makeup as are the color of my skin, the color of my eyes, my height, and my fingerprints. I did not wake up one morning and decide to be gay, Ms. Dixon.

Whether you have a case against the University is another matter. However, your conduct was utterly shameful.
