Sorry, correction, Loved your clever response MsSwin, as well the previous poster's ! Much to be praying for. Remember, the Word tells us to pray for our leaders. We are still very blessed as a nation. Let us do all in our power to see that we don't lose our freedom to legally worship according to our constitution,as so many have in other countries and not only 3rd world countries! May God be glorified more and more and guide us clearly!

Thank you for your clear concise article! Keep them coming - I'm so glad that Christians are finally beginning to come out of the closet of the "Silent Majority"! If not now, then when will we speak and actively make our voices heard? Given the choices in the current race, the so clear signs of the end times, McCain is right on one point, (a partial quote, taken out of context, but...) "...the end is, is, is truly near".
Loved your clever response, McS. !

With all due respect, the highlights of McCain’s speech in this article are typical of presidential candidates. Howard Dean’s diatribe is “the pot calling the kettle black.” The president is not a king; legislation must be passed by the House and the Senate, and even then, if the president vetoes a bill, it very well could be overridden. I find it rather curious as to why presidential candidates keep doing this, when really, if we are honest with ourselves, is rather limited. One of the things we need to keep in mind is that the president does have the power as commander-in-chief to an extent, and also as a figurehead that holds America’s image in his or her hands. I truly hope that we will not continue down the path of hostile foreign policy without recognizing cultural differences, as this nation has done for over a hundred years.

McCain:

“And I believe that the success will be fairly easy” and “There's no doubt in my mind that... we will be welcomed as liberators.” [CNN, Larry King Live, 9/24/02. MSNBC, Hardball, 3/24/03]

“I think we could go in with much smaller numbers than we had to do in the past... I don't believe it's going to be nearly the size and scope that it was in 1991.” [Face the Nation, 9/15/02]

“There's not a history of clashes that are violent between Sunnis and Shias. So I think they can probably get along.” [MSNBC Hardball, 4/23/03]

When McCain was asked “at what point will America be able to say the war was won?” He responded, “...it’s clear that the end is, is, is very much in sight.” [ABC, “Good Morning America,” 4/9/03]

“Overall, I think a year from now, we will have made a fair amount of progress if we stay the course.” [The Hill, 12/8/05 (Exactly one year before violence in Iraq peaked)]
