Hotel Obamacare: Vacancy

Cal Thomas

Syndicated Columnist

August 10, 2009

Before we allow our government to transform the means through which we are treated when illness strikes, let’s take another look at Britain. Government health care has been a fixture there for many years.

There is a growing shortage of doctors, nurses, dentists and clinical staff as older professionals retire or quit and younger people are reluctant to enter the profession.

Here’s a crucial quote from Anthony Halperin, a trustee of The Patients Association: “Nursing staff see that there are higher rewards in the private sector while doctors and dentists no longer see medicine as a career for life, or are having their hours cut back by European legislation. All of this has negative outcomes for patients.”

If vacancies are occurring with fewer professionals to fill them, it most assuredly will further reduce the already lower-quality care in the U.K.

This is government care. This is where Obamacare is headed. Never mind what they call you. Get out and protest. It’s your health and life. They’ll always have the best. You may not.
