The Hidden Life of Czars

Cal Thomas

Syndicated Columnist

August 31, 2009

Glenn Beck did a series of programs on Fox last week in which he exposed the backgrounds some of the czars in the Obama administration. None of these were subject to Senate confirmation, but all have been given power.

One of them is named Van Jones. A day after the 9-11 attacks, the organization founded by Obama's "green jobs czar" held a vigil, expressing solidarity with Arab and Muslim Americans as well as what it called "victims of U.S. imperialism" around the world.

Jones is an admitted black nationalist and radical communist. The group he founded is called "STORM," which stands for "Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement."

Beck read from the group's manual, which describes the organization as having a "commitment to the fundamental ideas of Marxism-Leninism."

What is a guy like Jones doing in the White House? He is not alone. There are other radicals in this administration, as Glenn Beck has reported. You know there would have been an outcry if a Republican president had named someone to his staff with ties to the Ku Klux Klan.
