It's been eight years since the attacks on September 11, 2001. Most of us remember where we were and what we were doing. Most of us recall our horror at the slaughter of innocent people. Of course our enemies don't see it that way, but they see a lot of things differently than we do, including their perception of God.

Polls show Americans are more tolerant of Islam and Muslims. Maybe that's a good thing when it comes to those who don't intend to harm us and our way of life. But how do we tell the difference? Our enemies have been trained in our ways. They know how to hide among us until they have the opportunity to kill more of us. They hide out in mosques that are growing like fast-food chains, many paid for by the Saudis, who export the most virulent brand of Islam. They adopt the language of civil libertarians and demand rights that are denied others in their native countries.

9/11 wasn't a one-time incident. It was part of a global war against everything we hold dear, most especially our liberties. Anyone who thinks this threat has somehow subsided has played into their hands. They want us to forget 9/11. We will do so at our own peril. The war goes on. The only question is: which side has the staying power to win it. Remember the dead!
