The Inside Job of the Nobel Peace Prizes

Cal Thomas

Syndicated Columnist

October 12, 2009

Much has already been said and written about President Barack Obama's Nobel Peace Prize. Here's more.

The Nobel Prize, like the Pulitzer Prize for journalism, is an inside job in which liberals award liberals. The Nobel committee is packed with liberals appointed by liberal Norwegian legislators.

Giving the peace prize to Barack Obama is like giving the Super Bowl trophy to a football team after only two games…in the pre-season. Obama has done nothing, except make the world safer for terrorists.

This award, for which Obama was nominated less than two weeks after his inauguration -- and just before he decides whether to send more troops into Afghanistan -- is a wish by the Nobel Committee that he won't.

Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher and Pope John Paul II liberated people. They never won a Nobel Peace Prize. The committee gives it to losers like Jimmy Carter, Bishop Tutu and the terrorist Yasser Arafat.

That tells you all you need to know.

Cal- Let the world give and receive their rewards... ours is in heaven. Take heart in this.

In addition, I laughed out loud when I read the headlines about the Nobel, and scratched my head when I found out that they turned in nominations days after his inauguration. But who knows... maybe God will use this in some way? A better image of America, and therefore more doors to open for American believers to serve worldwide? Who knows, but don't worry what the world does. Just rest in Jesus Christ, who is far more important than any earthly reward. Thanks!
