Turn the Tide -- Today!

Cal Thomas

Syndicated Columnist

November 3, 2009

Representative government is never more than one generation away from extinction. That is why it must constantly be renewed, sometimes within generations. In today's so-called off-off year election, opportunities present themselves in Virginia, New Jersey and New York state - as well as on ballot initiatives in Maine and the state of Washington - to reverse the tide of economic and social liberalism that is now washing over us. Nationalized health care and higher taxes and more regulation? Special rights for homosexuals? No one is pushing adulterer-rights, but give it time.

These are some of the states and issues that could begin to turn the tide if you care enough to vote and inform your friends so they, too, will vote. This is about our freedom. And it is about government trying to restrict freedom. Like the way government is mishandling the swine flu vaccine and its lack of availability and rationing? It's a review of what national health care will look like.

Do you want government telling pastors what they can preach and Christian institutions who they must hire? If not, vote today or else.
