Four More Years

Cal Thomas

Syndicated columnist

January 20, 2005

President Bush today begins his second four years in office.

Like any president - but especially this one - he has a lot on his plate.

From terrorism abroad, to terrorism at home; from reforming social security, to dealing with the sniping press and ambitious democrats interested more in their own careers than in his success, it will be a tough four years.

This is a tough man, who was made tougher by the events of September 11, 2001.

He should have an excellent cabinet, headed by Dr. Condolezza Rice, who acquitted herself well during her sometimes contentious confirmation hearings.

This president has said openly he calls upon God daily to help him.

The least the rest of us can do is uphold him in prayer as often as we are reminded to do so.

It is what scripture requires, no matter the leader.

Pray for those in authority, it says, so we might live quiet and
peaceful lives.

He won't always make decisions that please everyone, but pray he'll have a sense of which ones he should make that would please God.

That's all that matters.
