Happy New Year! Time flies, whether you’re having fun or not.

Actually, time is the same for us all; the clock moves at the same speed. When I was a kid, I thought it moved incredibly slow. I thought I’d never grow up. Now, I think time races by. That’s because I fill time with so many things – thought, prayer, worship, writing, speaking, family.

You recall the hymn, “time like an ever rolling stream, bears all its sons away; the lie forgotten as a dream dies at the opening day.” That’s pretty sobering, isn’t it? It should remind each of us that it is what we invest during the time we have that determines the dividends and the currency in which it will be paid in eternity.

Think about this as you resolve to do things differently in 2007 from what you did in 2006. Maybe there are broken relationships that need to be healed; people who need to hear from you about the love of God (and see that love in and through you); or some disobedience that needs to be turned into obedience. A new year offers a clean slate. Take the time to write good things on it.
