A girl's gift of $15,000 made it possible for tribal people in India to receive Bibles.

A girl's gift of $15,000 made it possible for tribal people in India to receive Bibles. The 15-year-old, whom the ministry did not name, inherited a large amount of money. She wanted to make sure Christians in the Hmar tribe in northeast India received an updated translation of the Bible in their own language, Bibles for the World reported. The new Bible contains a concordance, dictionary, and reference sections.

...Her gift helped fulfill a promise made by a Hmar Christian boy to his father. Rochunga Pudaite, president of Bibles for the World, became a Christian as a boy, the ministry said. His father challenged him to become educated so that he one day could translate the Bible into the Hmar language. Pudaite played a major role in producing the new translation, the ministry said.

...A Welsh missionary first brought the gospel to the Hmar in 1910. The tribe of savage headhunters was greatly feared but that has changed and today there are thousands of Hmar Christians, the ministry said.
