The common ground for all of us should be "Protestant". What is the protest about? Roman Catholicism. The bible is what binds us together as protestants, and binds us apart from Roman Catholicism. There is a serious dearth of information in Protestant churches about the errors and dangers of Roman Catholicism. Correcting this would revitalize America's Protestant heritage.

I am saddened to see these mainstream protestants fade away. I attended Methodist, Episcopalian and Presbyterian churches along the path to finding Christ as Savior and Lord. But, even then, there was that assumption that everyone in the congregation "had to know Christ" and had somehow in their private moments had exercised faith in order to do this. I was always kind of curious and bewildered by that idea. Because I hadn't and did not know how to. The liturgy was clear that something was different, but it wasn't. Knowing Christ as my Savior now allows me to look back with awe at the Liturgy of the Episcopalian faith and wonder how I and many others missed the message. It was simply because, it wasn't told. In a sense I am glad. This assumption was an error and the denominational approach promoted divisiveness instead of unity. Although we have a long way to go to obtain unity, the non-denominational approach works better for me & IMHO for the body of Christ @ large.
