I've seen this unfortunately at several influential churches; it seems the bigger the church, the more likely they are to cave in to the culture and support those who say that environmental collapse is our #1 priority. I heard a guest speaker proclaim from the pulpit that the word "tree" appears so many times in the Bible that it must be very important to God. Which is at best, missing the point; at worst, the worst example of exegesis I've heard in church. (I guess there are worse examples but I don't go to those churches.)

We have to be vigilant; in the last century, the science seemed overwhelming for evolution and a billion-year-old earth. Many churches altered their theology to match. Now we know that the 'science' was pretty flimsy. The 'global meltdown' science is even less serious. Christians should steer clear.
