A new sermon series from Christian Emergency Network (CEN) (www.christianemergencynetwork.org) addresses the fast-growing Islamic religion by presenting “Understanding Islam” with one of its ministry partners, Dr. Stan Reeder.
CEN Founder/Chairman Mary Marr states: “Current national security issues tied to the Islamic world cannot be ignored by Christians. An overall understanding of Islamic history and its goals in our day help us cement the biblical worldview that the Bible teaches, and also helps us to reach Muslims with the message of Jesus Christ. This sermon series is a must for churches, and can be accessed by individuals as well.”
A set of five-part messages including supportive tools on Understanding Islam is available for download to help educate and prepare today’s Church regarding this major influence on culture worldwide. These messages can be used, referenced and distributed. They are a great resource to become familiar with following this September’s National Preparedness Month.
The five sermons are: Islamic History, Islamic Scripture (The Qur’an), Islam and the West, Islamic Followers, and How to Minister to Muslims.
As stated by the messages’ author, Dr. Stan Reeder, “We can’t just sit around and do nothing. As John Wesley says, ‘The Church has nothing to do but to save souls; therefore spend and be spent in this work.’”
Developed and preached the summer of 2007 to his Denver area Nazarene congregation, these teachings connect the Truth of the Bible to today’s happenings and to what is yet to come. Pastor Reeder shows the importance of having one’s total being captivated by Christ in order to understand and comprehend God’s relentless pursuit of those who do not yet know Him.
Pastor Reeder continues: "Is this a subject of interest only for those interested in world religions? Not at all."
"As Islam advances across the world, the need grows for greater understanding of it. There are actually great risks in ignoring the religion and revelation of Muhammad -- the risks of apathy and misunderstanding; of sinful stereotyping or naïve acceptance. This is not something we can outsource and let the professors or pundits or politicians take care of for us."
